A vast journey with a human heartbeat
From its first quiet transmission to its luminous final image, Paper Kingdom understands that scale means little without intimacy. The production design is spectacular, but the film keeps returning to small gestures, difficult conversations and the cost of choosing hope.
Director Keiko Amari gives the ensemble room to breathe. The middle chapter occasionally slows under its own ambition, yet the emotional through-line remains clear and rewarding.
